blacKbird's tips

  • Making Your Own Watermark Brush

A great technique to use when you need to quickly get you name on something to start on your next project. First, create a new document that you want to be the average size of your stamp. Then, in whatever font, style, design, etc. you want, make your watermark. Then, go to "Edit >> Define Brush Preset..." and it will let you name the brush and viola, you have your watermark!

  • Scanlines

Scanlines are something you should never be without. They can always come in handy. Open a 1x2 document and pencil one pixel black. Go to "Edit >> Define Pattern" and there you go. There are different types of scanlines out there too, so don't be afraid to experiment.

  • Saving & Loading Brushes

The best place to save your PhotoShop brushes in in your default brushes folder. The location of this for CS2 should be: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Presets\Brushes. To load them into PhotoShop once there, go to your brushes palette, click the arrow-circle button, go to "Load Brushes..." and find the brush pack you wish to load.
